Op richting noord California. met hier onder de laatste foto's en video van de Oregon kust. Met daar bij South Beach, de Kissing Rock. Kissing Rock is de meest opvallende bezienswaardigheid van South Beach. Deze indrukwekkende rotsformatie torent dramatisch uit boven het strand en de snelweg, omringd door kleinere rotsen. Hoewel er verschillende verhalen de ronde doen over de oorsprong van de naam, is het meest bekende verhaal dat het een romantische ontmoetingsplek was voor stelletjes.

Heading towards Northern California. Below are the latest photos and videos from the Oregon coast. And there, at South Beach, is Kissing Rock. Kissing Rock is South Beach's most striking landmark. This impressive rock formation towers dramatically above the beach and the highway, surrounded by smaller rocks. While there are several stories about the origin of its name, the most common is that it was a romantic meeting place for couples.

Het was een kleine wereld vanochtend. De mist was het land opgekomen vanaf de zee, maar ondanks dat was het een mooie dag. 

It was a small world this morning; the Fog had drifted inland from the sea, but despite that, we had a beautiful day today.

Vandaag lang de kustlijn van Oregon gereden en een paar mooie foto's kunnen schieten. Vannacht op Rodea point aan het begin van de crestloop overnacht. 's Middags nog even bultruggen bekeken vanaf de plek waar ik verbleef, zie video.

Today I drove along the coast of Oregon and shot a few nice pictures. I spent the night at Rodea Point last night at the start of the Crestloop. But in the afternoon, I watched some humpback whales from where I was staying; see the video.

Ik passeer vandaag de grens van de staten Washington en Oregon. Deze grens ligt in het water van de Columbia rivier en ik moet de brug over naar Astoria in Oregon. De Astoria Megler Bridge met een lengte van 6.5 km en de langste overspanning van 380m en 60m hoog bij hoog water.

Today I'm crossing the border between the states of Washington and Oregon. It's in the Columbia River, and I have to cross the bridge to Astoria, Oregon. The Astoria Megler Bridge is  21.474 FT long and has  the longest span of 1.233 FT and a height of 196 FT at high tide.,

Hier in Washington hebben ze een aantal drijvende bruggen. Bij Seattle heb je de langste van de wereld.

Here in Washington, they have several floating bridges. Seattle has the longest in the world.

Vandaag gebruikt om naar Seattle te gaan. Ik was al aan de andere zijde van Puget Sound. Dat is de zeearm waar Seattle aan ligt. Ik ben met de auto het eiland Bainbridge opgereden, tot vlakbij de pont. Daar heb ik mijn fiets afgeladen en ben zo verder via het veer naar Seattle gevaren.  Seattle: de stad waar Starbucks ooit is begonnen. Lekker door de stad gefietst berg op en af. Even bij Starbucks geweest. Deze winkel heeft nog het originele logo, het kon niet door de beugel in de rest van de USA.  Helaas stond er een rij van een uur, en dus heb ik alleen maar foto's genomen. Toen door naar de Space Needle (een bekende toren in Seattle). Daar kwam nog een streakfietser voorbij: een man naakt op zijn fiets. Later in de middag terug met het veer en berg op naar mijn auto. Ik voel het wel in mijn knieën. Vanavond lekker een hete douche en naar bed. Dan is het morgen hopelijk weer weg.

I used today to go to Seattle. I was already on the other side of Puget Sound, the estuary where Seattle is located. I drove to Bainbridge Island, right, up to the ferry. There I unloaded my bike and continued on the ferry to Seattle. And then to Seattle (the city where Starbucks started). I cycled through the city, up and down the hills. I stopped at Starbucks (this store still featured the original logo, which was not acceptable in the rest of the USA), but with a line that lasted over an hour, I just took pictures. Then on to the Space Needle (a tower in Seattle). There, a streaky cyclist passed a guy naked on his bike. Later in the afternoon, I took the ferry back up the mountain to my car. I can really feel it in my knees. Tonight, a nice hot shower and off to bed, and hopefully it'll be gone by tomorrow.
