Route 66

De laatste dagen van oktober het laatste stuk van Route 66 gereden. Dit liep via Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Joplin naar Springfield in Missoury en een paar foto's geschoten langs de route. Nu heb ik de gehele route 66 gereden. Dit in drie etappes verdeeld over een paar jaar. 

In the last days of October, I drove the last stretch of Route 66. This stretch ran through Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Joplin to Springfield, Missouri. I took a few photos along the way. I have now completed the entire Route 66. This took three steps over several years.

Jammer dat er veel van de route 66 nu de I40 is. Vandaag aangekomen in Amarillo. Hier is de Cadillac ranch waar een kunstenaar een aantal oude Cadillacs met de neus schuin naar beneden heeft ingegraven en een ieder mag deze bewerken met spuitverf. 

It's a shame that much of Route 66 is now I-40. Arriving in Amarillo today, there's the Cadillac Ranch, where an artist has buried several old Cadillacs, noses tilted downward, and anyone can spray paint them.

Ben vandaag door Holbrook gereden, dit i.v.m. het wigwam motel dat daar staat. Hier kan je dus overnachten in een huisje in de vorm van een wigwam. Voor de wigwam staan allerlei klassieke wagens en voor een aantal wagens ziet u op de foto's blokken liggen. Dit zijn versteende boomstammen. In de film "Cars" was er een motel met oranje Pilonnen. Dit was gebaseerd op dit motel in Holbrook.

I drove through Holbrook today because of the wigwam motel there. You can stay overnight in a little house shaped like a wigwam. And in front of the wigwam are parked classic cars. And in the pictures, you see stone blocks; these are pieces of petrified trees. In the movie "Cars," there was a motel with orange pylons that was based on this motel in Holbrook.

Vandaag dus weer terug naar kingman voor de reparatie van de banden. Bij de banden specialist aangekomen konden ze de banden niet repareren, de ene zat te dicht op de rand van de band en bij de klapband was het gat net te groot😂🤣😂🤣. Dus twee nieuwe banden er op. Dit gebeurde tijdens dat ik de kwalificatie van de sprintrace aan het kijken was bij Starbucks. Daarna terug even afrekenen en weer verder met de rit langs route 66.

So, back to Kingman today for tire repairs. When I got to the tire shop, they couldn't fix the tires; one was too close to the edge, and the puncture was just too big when I blew it out. 😂🤣😂🤣 So, I put on two new tires. This happened while I was qualifying for the sprint race at Starbucks. After that, I went back to pay and continued my trip along Route 66.

Het was een mooie dag.  Het was een mooie rit door de bergen van Needles via Oatman naar Kingman. Alleen daar hield het voor mij even op door een klapband. Wat een knal was dat! Band kapot en schade aan de trailer. Gelukkig: leve de verzekering, het wordt opgelost. Het was alleen op een gevaarlijke plek dus voorzichtig naar een veilige plek gereden. Deels over de schouder van de weg en dat leverde een lekke band op. dus een lekke en een klapband.

It was a beautiful day, a lovely drive through the mountains from Needles via Oatman to Kingman. But that's where it ended for me briefly due to a blown tire. What a bang! A flat tire and damage to the trailer. Thankfully, the insurance company takes care of it. It was a dangerous spot, so I carefully drove to a safe place, partly on the shoulder of the road, and that resulted in a flat tire. So, a flat and a blowout.

Deze dag een route door de woestijn van Californië. De rit ging van Barstow via Ashhill, Klondike, Siberien Bagdad naar een plaatsje Amboy. Hier een fotomomentje. daarna door. Jammer, er waren diverse wegafsluitingen (route 66 verbetering) daardoor moest ik toch nog even wat tanken in Californië. $8,50 per Gallon Vandaag 17 okt vol getankt in Arizona voor $3,33 per gallon, scheelt iets.

Today I drove through the California desert. The trip went from Barstow via Ashhill, Klondike, Siberia, and Baghdad to the town of Amboy. Here's a photo opportunity. Then I continued, but unfortunately, there were several road closures (due to Route 66 upgrades), so I had to put some diesel in California at $8.50 per gallon. Today, October 17th, I filled up in Arizona for $3.33 per gallon, which is a bit of a difference.

Het weer vandaag was erg regenachtig maar begonnen aan de route 66, maar nu vanaf Santa Monica pier richting het westen. Het stuk door Los Angeles is niet goed aangegeven maar het zijn gelukkig maar een paar lange straten. De Santa Monica Blvd, Sunset Blvd, West Colorado Blvd, East Colorado blvd, Huntington Drive en de East Foothill Blvd en dat is ongeveer 225 km.

The weather was rainy, but Today I started on Route 66, this time from Santa Monica Pier, heading west. The section through Los Angeles isn't well-marked, but luckily it's only a few long streets: Santa Monica Blvd, Sunset Blvd, West Colorado Blvd, East Colorado Blvd, Huntington Drive, and East Foothill Blvd. That's about 140mlle.
