De laatste dagen van oktober het laatste stuk van Route 66 gereden. dit liep via Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Joplin naar Springfield in Missoury. En een paar foto's geschotel langs de route. Nu heb ik de gehele route 66 gereden. Dit in drie etappes verdeeld over een paar jaar.

Jammer dat er veel van de route 66 nu de I40 is. Van daag aangekomen in Amarillo hier is de Cadillac ranch waar een kunstenaar een aantal oude Cadillacs met de neus schuin naar beneden heeft in gegraven, en een ieder mag deze bewerken met spuitverf.

Ben vandaag door Holbrook gereden, dit ivm het wigwam motel dat daar staat. Hier kan je dus overnachten in een huisje in de vorm van een wigwam. En voor de wigwam staan allerlij klassieke wagens. En voor een aantal wagen ziet u op de foto's blokken liggen, dit zijn versteende boomstammen. In de film "Cars" was er een motel met oranje Pilonnen dit was gebaseerd op dit motel in Holbrook.

Vandaag dus weer terug naar kingman voor de reparatie van de banden. Bij de banden specialist aangekomen konden ze de banden niet repareren, de ene zat te dicht op de rand van de band en bij de klapband was het gat net te groot😂🤣😂🤣. Dus twee nieuwe banden er op dit gebeurde tijdens dat ik de kwalificatie van de sprintrace aan het was bij starbucks. Daarna terug even afrekenen en weer verder met de rit langs route 66.

So, back to Kingman today for tire repairs. When I got to the tire shop, they couldn't fix the tires; one was too close to the edge, and the puncture was just too big when I blew it out. 😂🤣😂🤣 So, I put on two new tires. This happened while I was qualifying for the sprint race at Starbucks. After that, I went back to pay and continued my trip along Route 66.

Het was een mooie dag. Het was een mooie rit door de bergen van Needles via Oatman naar Kingman. Alleen daar hield het voor mij even op door een klapband. Wat een knal was dat! Band kapot en schade aan de trailer. Gelukkig: leve de verzekering, het wordt opgelost. Het was alleen op een gevaarlijke plek dus voorzichtig naar een veilige plek gereden. Deels over de schouder van de weg en dat leverde een lekke band op. dus een lekke en een klapband.

It was a beautiful day, a lovely drive through the mountains from Needles via Oatman to Kingman. But that's where it ended for me briefly due to a blown tire. What a bang! A flat tire and damage to the trailer. Thankfully, the insurance company takes care of it. It was a dangerous spot, so I carefully drove to a safe place, partly on the shoulder of the road, and that resulted in a flat tire. So, a flat and a blowout.

Deze dag een route door de woestijn van California. de rit ging van Barstow via Ashhill, Klondike, Siberiaen Bagdad naar een plaatsje Amboy. hier een foto momentje. daarna door, jammer er waren diverse weg afsluitingen (route 66 verbetering) daardoor moest ik toch nog even wat tanken in California $ 8,50 per Gallon Vandaag 17 okt vol getankt in Arizona voor $3,33 per gallon, scheelt iets.

Het weer vandaag was erg regenachtig maar begonnen aan de route 66, maar nu vanaf Sant Monica pier richting het westen. Het stuk door Los Angeles is niet goed aangegeven maar hat zijn gelukkig maar een paar lange straten. De Santa Monica Blvd, Sunset Blvd, West Colorado Blvd, East Colorado blvd, Huntington Drive en de East Foothill Blvd en dat is ongeveer 225 km.

Het is weer een warme dag en ik ga naar het Historic Route 66 Museum. Hier hebben ze oude gebouwen van Elk City en nagebouwde gebouwen tot een waar museumstad omgebouwd. Het was een klein maar mooi museum. In de bar van het nagebouwde stadje moest ik nog een pin plaatsen in een landkaart, op de plek waar ik vandaan kom. ik heb hier een leuk gesprek gehad met de uitbater van het cafe (Jack Bonny). Ik mocht van hem zelf achter de bar plaaats nemen voor een foto. Hij houd ook nog een pagina bij op het internet. Daar gaat hij mij in vermelden. (zie foto's).

Weer een dag over de Moeder route 66 en vandaag via Cuba naar Libanon (lebanon). In Cuba was nog een oud tankstation en motel. Het motel is nog steeds in gebruik. Morgen op veteranendag (in de USA) door naar Springfield MO.

8 - 11 - 2022 / November 8, 2022

Vandaag naar St Louis geweest en de Gateway Arch (192 meter hoog en breed aan de grond) bezocht. Dit is een monument gemaakt voor de expansie naar het westen in de beginjaren van de USA. Het is een nationaal park en valt dus ook onder de Nationaal park sevice en Rangers. Het is het kleinste nationale park van de VS. Er zit een klein museum over de reizen naar de west onder. Je gaat met een lift omhoog, maar doordat de ruimte boven erg klein is, is de lift niet hoger dan 1.40m en heeft 5 zitplaatsen, maar er zijn er 8 aan elkaar gekoppeld. Het gaat langzaam en het lijkt een beetje op een achtbaan met gondels.

I went to St Louis today and visited the Gateway Arch (630ft tall and wide at the bottom). This is a monument to the expansion to the west in the early years of the USA. It is a national park and therefore also falls under the National Park Service and Rangers. It is the smallest national park in the USA. And there is a small museum about the travels to the west below. You go up with an elevator but due to the fact that the space upstairs is very small, the lit is no higher than 4,5 ft and has 5 seats but there are 8 linked together. It's going slow to me, and it looks a bit like a roller coaster with gondolas.

Na het ontbijt weer vertrokken voor het vervolg van de route. Zoals ik al schreef is hij tot nu toe nog steed goed aangegeven. Ik ga altijd uit van de oudste route, (als dit mogelijk is i.v.m. de hoogte, lengte en gewicht van mijn combinatie. Soms zijn er restrikties, meestal hoogte en gewicht). Zo kwam ik in Odell IL (IL = Illinois) een oud tankstation (tijdens de zomerperiode gewoon geopend) en in Atlanta IL een transport bedrijf genaamd Holland tegen. Vannacht kan ik overnachten bij een Campingworld (dat is een bedrijf dat alles voor camperen en campers vekoopt). Het voordeel is dat ik gelijk weer vers water kan tappen en mijn vuilwater kan dumpen. Tevens kan je bij diverse van deze winkels aansluiten op de stroom (scheelt weer, want dan hoeft de generator niet te draaien). Dit hoort bij de service van deze zaken, maar je moet wel lid zijn van de Good Sam Club en dat ben ik. Morgen het vervolg van de route 66 naar St Louis IL.
