Na de nacht bij Cracker Barrel doorgebracht te hebben, onder weg naar de Cadilac Ranch on Route 66. (Tekst uit wikipedia (Cadillac Ranch is een openbare kunstinstallatie en sculptuur in Amarillo, Texas, VS. Het werd in 1974 gemaakt door Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez en Doug Michels, die deel uitmaakten van de kunstgroep Ant Farm. De installatie bestaat uit tien Cadillacs die met de neus eerst in de grond worden begraven. Iedereen die deze site bezoekt mag op de wagens spuiten wat ze willen. Er is zelf een wagen waar je de spuitbussen kunt kopen. Ook ik heb er wat achterggelaten, in de vorm van wat visitekaartjes. Hopelijk worden ze niet te snel over gespoten.

Vandaag een reisdag, ik ga Oklahoma achter mij laten en weer Texas in. Onderweg naar Amarillo TX. Lang de weg staan reclameborden met daar op de tekst GRATIS 72oz  (2.041KG) Steak. Ik heb het even opgezocht. Je kan dat winnen. Hier de regels.

2.041 KG Steak Challenge-regels

Het is weer een warme dag en ik ga naar het Historic Route 66 Museum. Hier hebben ze oude gebouwen van Elk City en nagebouwde gebouwen tot een waar museumstad omgebouwd. Het was een klein maar mooi museum. In de bar van het nagebouwde stadje moest ik nog een pin plaatsen in een landkaart, op de plek waar ik vandaan kom. ik heb hier een leuk gesprek gehad met de uitbater van het cafe (Jack Bonny). Ik mocht van hem zelf achter de bar plaaats nemen voor een foto. Hij houd ook nog een pagina bij op het internet. Daar gaat hij mij in vermelden. (zie foto's).

It's another hot day and I'm off to the Historic Route 66 Museum. Here they have converted old buildings from Elk City and recreated buildings into a true museum city. It was a small but nice museum. In the bar of the reconstructed town I still had to place a pin in a map, where I came from. Op pad naar het westen richting Amarillo TX. Via de route 40 ook wel grotendeels de historic route 66. In Elk city overnachten om morgen naar het Historic Route 66 Museum te gaan. Het is een klein stadje, maar er staat zelfs midden in de stad nog een oude boortoren.

Het waren zeer hete dagen hier in Oklahoma City OK. Op het heetste moment was het 41℃. Ik ben ook op een van de avonden naar die brug (zie foto) geweest, ik kon hem niet vinden en na dat ik iemend gevraagd had waar het was zij hij hier. Ik zag die verlichte brug helemaal niet. Maar de man zei dat de brug alleen op speciale dagen verlicht was. Zoals memorial day, 4juli Kerst enz, enz. De foto's komen van het internet. 

It were very hot days here in Oklahoma City OK. at the hottest moment, it was 10℉. I also went to that bridge one of the evenings, I couldn't find it and after I asked someone where it was he said it was here. I didn't see that illuminated bridge at all. Vandaag naar Oklahoma City In Oklahoma gereden. Daar bij een Walmart geparkeerd en 's avonds even gekeken op het internet wat er voor mijn gading te doen is. Ik zag op het internet dat er mooie voetgangersbrug was die 's avond helemaal verlicht is. Verder was er de memorial van de bomaanslag van de UNA BOMBER. Dit trekt mij niet echt en ik ga dan op een ramp toerist lijken.

Drove to Oklahoma City in Oklahoma today. I parked there at a Walmart and in the evening I looked on the internet to see what I could do. I saw on the internet that there was a nice pedestrian bridge that was all lit up at night. and then there was the memorial to the bombing of the UNA BOMBER. this doesn't really appeal to me and I'm going to look like a disaster tourist.

Een mooie rit door Noord Texas, lekker tusssen door geen snelweg. Bij aankomst in Gainsville TX, kwam er iemand naast mij rijden en zei dat ik een lekke band had op de trailer. Dus gelijk gestopt en ja die was lek (even kijken of ze hem kunnen plakken). Gelijk door gegaan naar Walmart 300 meter verder, daar  konden ze mij gelijk helpen en een uurtje later was hij klaar. Daar nog wat boodschappen gedaan en op de parkeerplaats overnacht.

A nice drive through North Texas, nice between no highway. but upon arrival in Gainsville TX, someone drove up next to me and said I have a flat tire on the trailer. So immediately stopped and yes it was leaking (let's see if they can fix it). I immediately went to Walmart half a mile further, they could help me right away and an hour later he was ready. We did some shopping there and spent the night in the parking lot.

Het is weer een erg warme dag. We beginnen met 28° C en om de dag te eindigen met 36° C. Eerst richting het noorden: hier ligt de South Fork Ranch, het wooncomplex van de familie Ewing in Dallas. Na de koffie door naar het centrum van Dallas. Er zijn veel wegwerkzaamheden en het niet duidelijk is, welknummer het is 1201 of 1401, kan ik dus niet bij het kantoor van Ewing Oil komen. Dus heb ik daar geen foto van. Ik kwam via Main Street aan op Dealy Plaza gelijk rechts af N Houston st. op en weer links Elmstreet op, dezelfde route als JFK reed op de dag van de moord. Op de weg staan kruizen geschilderd daar waar hij geraakt is door kogels, 3 stuks. Na wat zoeken heb ik wel een parkeerplaats gevonden in de buurt van de moordlokatie van John F. Kenedy. Na een korte wandeling kwam ik op Dealy Plaza aan. Het leek in mijn gedachte veel groter als het in werkelijkheid is. Even rond gelopen en foto's genomen. Daarna doorgewandeld naar het JFK memorial in Mainstreet en bij het zoveelste koffiehuis even ijswater gehaald want het was erg heet.

Vandaag uiteindelijk op reis. De route gaat van North Little Rock AR naar Texarkana AR/TX. Deze plaats ligt voor een deel in Arkansas AK en een deel in Texas TX. In Texarkana zelf is niets te doen Dus heb ik alleen maar overnacht en de volgende dag verder naar Dallas TX. In Dallas aangekomen een plekje bij Cracker Barrel gevonden voor de overnachting alhier. 

Finally on a trip today. The route goes from North Little Rock AR. to Texarkana AR/TX. this place is part of Arkansas AK. and part in Texas TX. There is nothing to do in Texarkana itself, so only stay overnight and continue the next day to Dallas TX. Arrived in Dallas and found a place at Cracker Barrel for the overnight stay here.
